Since 2004, Gustavo Arellano has written the wildly popular - and wildly politically incorrect - Ask a Mexican! column in the OC Weekly. In each installment, the California-born Arellano answers reader queries about Mexican-American mores that rarely come up in day-to-day conversation. Recent entries have discussed whether its safe to shop for prescription drugs in border towns, why Mexicans eat so many tortillas, and if its common for Mexican men to wear necklaces bearing their mothers names (its not, cautions Arellano, and probably a sign that a particular hombre has a chica south of the border). The column, Arellano told Reuters, "started off as a joke. It was supposed to be just a satirical take on xenophobia against Mexicans and it just exploded." The column now appears in about three dozen publications and spawned a 2007 collection (buy it here). The column is remarkable not only for its humor and insight but its willingness to talk frankly about topics that usually stifle even the most-open conversationalists. In April, Reasons Nick Gillespie talked with Arellano about US natives attitudes toward Mexicans, whether half-Mexican Anthony Quinns performance in Zorba the Greek or Jack Blacks Mexican-wrestler turn in Nacho Libre was more offensive, whether Mexicans can or should assimilate, the effect of the drug war on border relations, and much more. Approximately 7 minutes. Filmed by Hawk Jensen and Zach Weismueller; edited Jensen. Go to www.reason.tv for ...

MINA SAMBINHA samba latin Jazz Guitar - Godin xtSA Mina Sambinha is a song I wrote inspired by brazilian music and accordion/bandoneon, specially the superb french player Marc Berthoumieux. This time I play with MIDI guitar. Jazz Guitar I have a broad of influences toward Jazz Guitar. Brazilian music specially is a endless source of inspiration. I was particularly touched for this tune creation by talents, music and human spirit of artists like Ivan Lins and his extraordinary band (have to listen Leonardo Amuedo!) and Joao Bosco also with a incredible staff of band-mates and guest musicians like Gonzalo Rubalcaba in Incompatibilidade De Genios. And of course...Tom Jobim, always present and alive forever! Technical stuff I did play a Godin xtSA blending the electric guitar pickups with a bit of piezo acoustic spice, there is too the midi guitar synth controlling a french accordion sound from RS5 keyboard via Roland Gi-20 Midi converter. Pure MIDI guitar..! I composed and recorded this song with the help of amazing program Band in Box 2008 - www.pgmusic.com - including live "on the fly" electric and Midi guitar performance direct to the stereo audio track available in Band in a Box.. not overdubs or edits..it was HARD!! because, beside the playing itself, there are real time switching between electric, acoustic and midi, I got a decent version after 3 or 4 attempts. Band in a Box is, to me, a invaluable practicing, composing/arranger assistant tool for musicians, song ...

America is wonderful place for illegal aliens as exemplified by Elivira Arellano. Arellano illegally entered the US to deliver her son. The two subsequently received thousands of dollars worth of free medical costs, housing and food--thanks to the US tax payer. Arellano then committed multiple felonies including identity theft, illegal immigration, and failure to appear in court. Crimes for which an American would serve year-long sentences. But as a special class, Arellano was able to avoid prosecution--while receiving free legal assistance. For the past year, Arellano has made a complete mockery of our government and laws by refusing to return to Mexico. Instead, Arellano has threatened to abandon her son in the US, as a ploy to avoid prosecution. A nation that cannot control its borders or enforce its laws, cannot survive as a nation. Case in point, Elvira Arellano and the ethno-centrist, open borders advocates.

Old part of St. James Way. The Way of St James has existed for over a thousand years. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times. It has undergone lot of changes over the years . Some very interesting routes have disapeared, some others have fallen out of use and some of them, which are still in good use, are not ...
