After two months of being secluded in bed due to a deep depression I made this cleaning piece as a way of getting out and because of the wish of going with the flow of life again. At first this performance was a big FUCK YOU to some people I thought they loved me, both in my work and in my own family, and that leaded by some kind strange feeling of perfection, that I will never understand, started to reject me and attacked me treating me as a shit. The meaning of "rape" is used as in the original root Latin word "rapare" which means taking off something as if by force. This was my way to "rapare" all the sadness and hate inside of me. Though as you can imagine, during the whole period in which I felt dying in hell, I felt kind of being raped by these people too. This video has been recorded and edited by Jordi Fonollà (Fono) and it was screened at the CCCB in Barcelona as part of the installation made by Melissa Artajo and Jordi Fonollà during the BAC Festival 2004

Dolores Ibarruri (La Pasionaria) (1895-1989) once said Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees and I thought that it was a great concept, but that I couldnt apply to myself, because I wasnt even living on my knees. I was just crawling. I didnt even know how to walk on my knees, but I upgraded myself to sneaking and started my quest for that dignity the communist leader was asking for. I have called this performance Searching for a Man as a remembrance to that searching started by the Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope (412-323 BC). He is said to have walked through the streets of Athens carrying a lamp in the daytime, claiming to be looking for a genuine human, but unable to find one. So as Diogenes I have started my own searching for a honest man. Madrid, October 2007
