Misty, frosty morning leaving Cornellana with the sun coming through to show beautiful views across the mountains as we ascended towards Salas. All day we came acroos roadworks on and off and saw the new motorway swoop overhead, although not yet opened. However, the weather was gorgeous, and Salas a lovely town where we sat in the Plaza by the main old church and had our picnic lunch (just bought from a shop nearby). After, the ascent up to Bodenaya was long and hard but it was so pleasantly sunny we took our time, had fun, and even had a snooze! Finally, up at Bodenaya (albergue shown, with "hospitalero" Alejandro) we flagged on the beds! Alejandro gave all pilgrims hot soup and pasta - also bfast next day - free and he, along with his friend Anselmo, made our stay delightful. The dining room has a lovely log fire! (Much needed, it was perishing at night)

Concentración de Vehículos Clásicos de Salas. Muy buena organizacion aunque se echo en falta la colaboracion del Ayuntamiento que no puso ni un Policia Municipal para facilitar mas las cosas.

In the morning, at Bodenaya we woke up to Mozart downstairs which played quietly while we had coffee and toast. We were so high up on top of the mountain and looking forward to a good day. Had an interesting walk in good weather with some breathtaking views of snowy peaked mountains on the horizon. Amazing. However, there were areas of deep mud in places difficult to pass, and that "scent" of country cow .... ! Coming into Tineo we took the wrong way (being deviated by wanting to visit a posh Spa, which we later found out cost ?60 a night! Even Pilgrim´s rate! ) We stayed at the Municiple Albergue Mater Cristi in Tineo: a large room with 30 bunk beds, plenty of hot water and a microwave (I wish more albergues had these!) In the evening we took a slow stroll round the town - full of old people! Shown: some of these seated infront of the ayuntamiento. Understandable, the views are simply breathtaking from the town across the deep valley across to the far snowy peaks...
