Audiovisual project on sculpture: "Lhoritzó", Metrònom, Barcelona, and International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Almería, Spain, 2006. Music by Ralph Zurmuhle (www.ralphpiano.com ). Lhoritzó (in English "The Horizon") is a multimedia installation by Manuel Solà, Ralph Zurmühle and other artists around a sculpture, which creates a never fixed or still appearance. If a statue is by definition, something solid with a stable position in space, the steel sculpture in this installation is contradictory: it appears to float above the floor. As constructed with typographic characters, the sculpture loses its traditional wholeness in favour of a misreading, because these tangled characters prevent the viewer from following a discourse, which is broken and dismantled. A video is projected over the sculpture, which contains a poem by Guillem Feliu. The video is split up in the profile of the letters. The reading of the verses and the suggestion of the characters over which it is projected, reinforces a sense of ambiguity. To read is to introduce oneself into the mind of another, to split oneself or to become for a moment a shadow of oneself. LHoritzó represents "the world that each individual deserves to build." An illusory place that is past, present and future simultaneously in its development and seemingly unattainable.
