After fire is a short video I made of a burnt forest after seeing it with my eyes for the first time. It shocked me. Its not the same to see it on the TV than to see it in person. Life is gone for now... but will come again, hopefully sooner than later. I wanted to express the sadness of the forest after the tragedy. The remains of little dead snails, the texture of burnt trunks and desolated ground. But ending at the same time with a positive image meaning that it is not the end but the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. Filming, editing and original music by Héctor Corcín. That is saying something as they have many, many beautiful towns here. It is truly a beautiful city located on a beautiful site. We stayed in Trapani, on the coast, in an attempt to save some Euros. We visited the large new city of Trapani and the old port area. Some of the buildings along the port seemed to look a bit Arabic in style to me. In the distance we could see Mount Eryx (750 meters). It was atop mount Eryx that the hill climbing Elymians built their temple to the Cult of Venus. This mysterious group built the temple for their favorite ritual of Sacred Prostitution. The prostitutes themselves were accommodated in the Temple of Venus. (Now were talking! They had a whole different outlook on religion here! What a concept! Why didnt I think of it? Ill bet it was tax free too, and they no trouble getting members.) My guide book says that the area was invaded many, many times and never damaged...... Duh? Actually, that last note from the guide book is not quite accurate.
