On Tuesday Pound4Pound went down to the Maywood Boxing Club to check out two of trainer Eddie Gonzalez young fighters. We spoke to 118 pound Danny Roman who sports a 1-0,1KO record and we spent time with his stable mate, 122 pound Efrain Esquivias who has an unblemished 11-0 record with 7 KOs. Roman will fight this Thursday in Costa Mesa and Esquivias takes to the ring on Friday night in Ontario CA. These prospects are ready to keep their unbeaten records intact and we thought you should have a look at them and hear what they have to say.

Undefeated super bantamweight prospect Efrain Esquivias (13-0, 9 KOs) scored an impressive third round TKO win over late replacement Jhon Albert Molina (27-15-3, 18 KOs) to claim the WBA Fedelatin title Friday night at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario Ca. In front of another "standing room only" crowd, Esquivias used his superior speed and skill to overwhelm the veteran from Columbia. Esquivias rocked Molina in the first round with a counter left hook and dominated the second. In the third, Esquivias landed a left hook to the body that sent Molina to one knee. Molina struggled to make to his feet causing referee Ray Cobian to wave off the bout at 1:35. "I started slow, I always start slow but I hurt him in the first round" Said Efrain "I took my time and I kind of backed off. I should have went after him but I hurt him again in the third and finished him" Molina had replaced undefeated Sherali Dostiev who was pulled out of the fight by his manager for undisclosed reasons. "It was a big disappointment (not fighting Dostiev). They were building up a pretty good fight; a two time Olympian vs a Golden Gloves Champion and you know, two undefeated fighters. It was pumping the crowd up. Unfortunately they didnt get that fight." said Esquivias.
