I saw first hand how bad EUSAs image problem really is as most of the people I asked in George Square had no idea what their Association does for them.

On the 23rd March 2010, in South Hall, Pollock Halls, there will be an Extraordinary General Meeting. The only item for debate will be the motion titled "Change for EUSA - Introduction of online referenda". This is your chance to have your say on whether or not EUSA should change its constitution by a referendum of all its members or a general meeting. This motion has already been brought forward before. The first time it won 90% support, but there were less than 300 people in the room. The second time it won 70% support at one of the largest General Meetings EUSA has ever seen, but it just missed the 75% supermajority (plus 200 students in Appleton Tower could hardly hear the debate) The third time it won 85% support, but again there were not enough people (it needs 300 to pass). For various reasons, this motion has never had the debate it deserves. Students have asked EUSA to present this in a clear, unhurried, open forum, and allow a full and fair debate on the way forward with referendums. So, here we are - its FOURTH TIME LUCKY! We need 300+ people to turn up for meeting, with 300 people or 75% of the room (whichever number is greater) to vote in favour of introducing online referendums. Theres no rush, no confusion, and its the only motion on the table. For too long our outdated structures have not operated in a fair and democratic manner. Its not ok that we have meetings that most people cant make it to and exclude so many people including students: * studying ...
