You just heard the Fano Alt de Facto JM6. This custom-built instrument from Fano Guitars fuses vintage aesthetics and tone with modern features and playability. On the surface the Fano JM6 boasts a classic offset swamp ash body, a nitro lacquer finish, and aged nickel hardware for a decidely vintage look, but a peek under the hood reveals smart contemporary updates like a compound radius fretboard, a tilt-back headstock, and a TonePros bridge. The JM6 also has a highly versatile sonic voice, thanks in part to a ToneStyler tone control. The ToneStyler is a passive 16-position tone switch that shifts the resonant frequency of the JM6s custom Fralin P90s, letting the player dial in a huge range of tones from bright and punchy, to warm and fat, and just about every degree in between. Certain non-Newtonian fluids which are elastic display a large resistance to extensional flow. Such behaviour leads to fluid flow arrangements which are simply not possible using ordinary Newtonian fluids. These so-called Fano flows manifest themselves in a variety of ways. In the so-called tubeless syphon, a fluid can be made to flow up through an unsupported liquid column above the free surface of the liquid. One way to achieve this is by slowly withdrawing and raising a syringe from a pool of the liquid below. In the so-called open channel syphon, after initially commencing the flow of an elastic fluid from say a beaker, the fluid will continue to flow up the side and over the lip of the beaker for sometime despite the level of its free surface having fallen considerably below the top of the beaker. In this way the slightest spill will cause the beaker to partly empty in what is commonly refereed to as a self-syphoning effect.

The unbelievable vintage look of the Fano SP6 comes from its Reso-O-Cream nitro lacquer finish that implies the look of a recently unearthed instrument. The Fano Alt de Facto SP6 has a singing swamp ash body and late 50s round back maple neck like your favorite American guitar, however, Fano brings this SP6 into the 21st century with a 22 fret rosewood board equipped with a 10-16" compound radius. This allows for fast, unrestrained bends up high and a rounder radius for lower chords. All the twang you need comes from a hybrid ashtray style bridge with compensated brass saddles, for better intonation. And a custom pair of Fralin pickups give this Fano both warmth and grit with a T style in the bridge and a fat P-90 in the neck.
