El carácter único en el occidente europeo del templo de Santa Eulalia de Bóveda ha provocado múltiples interpretaciones sobre su finalidad original: lugar de baños, ninfeo, templo dedicado a Prisciliano. Posteriormente fue reutilizado para usos cristianos y bajo la advocación de Santa Eulalia. La investigación permite encadenar la interpretación de cada uno de los elementos del conjunto monumental de acuerdo con el rito romano de la diosa Cibeles.
