Entry from: Competa, Spain Entry Title: "Spain- Competa, 4th August 2010" Entry: "Another lovely white village in this area- further from the coast and up a very windy road, but well worthwhile to seek out if you are in this area. A pretty main square, dominated by an impressive church, and backed by nice little lanes which meander up and across the hillside. The first photo was taken at a rest stop just outside town- beautifully decorated seats and wall in mosaics- amazing how the Spanish people just cant resist embellishing day to day things! The next four photos are in the town square- note how everything is beautifully painted, and you can see the row of beautiful ceramic pictures on the wall of the church- each depicting a different aspect of life in the village. In every village during the day there is a row of older men sitting in the main square, just watching life passing. We did presume that their womenfolk were elsewhere doing all the work, but then we noticed that around 10.30 each night, its the old ladies who sit around watching the world go by! The other photos are around the lanes, but the last one is of the fountain where all washing used to be done in the spring water, the main water supply of the village for a few thousand years. Talking of hill villages like this one and Frigiliana ...
