Entry from: Belorado, Spain Entry Title: "Fields of Red Poppies" Entry: "We left Santo Domingo a little earlier this morning on our way to Belorado. We passed through more quaint villages. They are always built around a church and as you have seen from some of my pictures, they are magnificent inside. You would never guess the beauty that lies within by the exterior. (That metaphor does not need any explanation does it?) Ive included a couple pictures from the village of Granon. The view of the grain fields was beautiful, as were the red poppies growing in the middle of the grain fields. These are our common views as we walk. I will admit that the scenery is both beautiful and boring at the same time. Its not that we dont appreciate the beauty, its just that they eat a lot of bread here and need a lot of grain and it stretches for miles in every direction. Other than the fields of grain, the terrain has surprised us somewhat. Spain is not very flat. Its not the high sierras, but it is a lot of up and down...and the ups are sometimes straight up. And the grain fields are not plains of fields, they are hills of grain. We spent last night in Belorado. Up above the albergue (refuguio) we stayed in are cave dwellings, both modern and new.
