This month, whilst out in Fuerteventura, I wrote and recorded a new song titled Canarian (Viva Las Canarias). Its available now for FREE download from my website - www.stevetitford.com. Since its first play on QFM, Canarian has received lots of airplay on Fuerteventura and across the Canary Islands. In a forthcoming meeting, the single is going to be presented to the President of the Cabildo (The Canary Islands government) - Mario Cabrera - courtesy of QFM. A full Spanish translation of the lyrics will also be presented to the Cabildo (thanks JohnnyB). Who knows what will come of this? Maybe nothing, but its been great fun. To spend 4 days in the routine of record, surf, record was an excellent (and surprisingly fast) way to put out a song. I finished mixing the track on Monday 11th August and emailed it out that night. The following morning it was blaring out of our little bedside radio! The best moment came, however, 2 days later after a lunchtime radio interview. We were driving to the beach for some surfing, Canarian came on the radio and I immediately felt like a rock star. Sad, I know - but I still get a tingle whenever my stuff gets played on-air! OK, so the surfboard on the roof was messing up the reception and it was raining but it was one of those moments youll never forget. It was also nice to share it with Mum and Bob, who had been putting up with me recording in their house! Anyway, Ive gone on a bit. Ill sign off now so you can get on with ...
