Las comarcas del pirineo Leridano, Val d´Aran, Alta ribagorça, Pallars Jussá y Pallars Sobira dominadas mayormente por una orografia alpina de gran belleza paisajistica donde los inviernos son muy frios, de nieves perpetuas y los veranos frescos y lluviosos, acojen dentro de sus lindes, al Parc Nacional d´Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici. Por su perimetro exterior, rodeando el parque y aprovechando pistas forestales, antiguos caminos, veredas de pastores y los senderos pedalables mas cercanos a sus limites, en el 2005 se diseña una travesia para bicicleta de montaña con la finalidad de unir los pueblos, valles y aldeas de estas cuatro comarcas del pirineo Catalán. La denominaron PEDALS DE FOC. La idea de PEDALS DE FOC nace a raiz de la gran popularidad de otra travesia que se recorre a pie dentro del Parque Nacional uniendo nueve de los refugios de montaña en un recorrido circular creada en el año 2000, la CARROS DE FOC, hoy ya una clásica muy popularizada entre los excursionistas de montaña.
