Jeronimo Villarino, 1889 - 1972, born in Huelva, Andalucia, died in Los Angeles, California. He is mentioned a few times in Paco Sevillas book Carmen Amaya Queen of the Gypsies. CORRECTION: he did not play in "Blood and Sand" as I mentioned in the opening title screen. It was Vicente Gomez. Villarino did provide some of the guitar playing in the film "The Loves of Carmen," which starred Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford.

En mayo del 2002, la Unesco hizo público un amplísimo informe sobre las lenguas minorizadas del mundo, un exhaustivo y completo estudio que constituye hasta la fecha el referente más universal y fiable acerca de la situación idiomática del planeta. Este atlas o libro rojo englobaba al leonés dentro de la categoría de lenguas seriously endangered (seriamente amenazada), peldaño anterior a las consideradas como extintas. ¿El leonés? ¿Qué es eso? ¿Quiénes lo hablan y dónde? Para responder a estas preguntas, la productora Armonía Films se propuso seguir el rastro de los últimos hablantes de leonés y mostrar cómo una sociedad se niega a perder para siempre una parte importante de su patrimonio cultural. El resultado es Asina falamos.
