El castillo nuevo de Manzanares el Real se encuentra en la localidad del mismo nombre, provincia de Madrid. Tanto este castillo como el castillo viejo y la villa se asientan sobre la falda meridional de la Pedriza. El castillo nuevo, cuya figura ha sido posiblemente la más utilizada para encarnar la imagen popular de la fortificación medieval española, se levanta también sobre una ligera loma, a la izquierda de la salida hacia Soto del Real. Entry from: Manzanares el Real, Spain Entry Title: "Hiking and Football!" Entry: "On this Saturday some friends and I went 40 mins north of Madrid for a little nature adventure. We hiked, picnic, and just basically enjoyed the calm and quiet countryside which was a great change of pace from Madrid. I leaped from boulder to boulder giving my friends heart attacks and even rock climbed a bit, which inspired a few friends to blaze their own trail with me by taking a route least traveled. All in all, we ended up hiking and hanging out in the mountains for 8 hours! Needless to say I am sporting a farmers tan and thanks to layers of SPF 30 and SPF 15 escaped the day without sunburn. Woot! The next day Sunday 5/2/09 I went to a football (soccer) game at the famous Estadio Santiago Bernaseu en Madrid to see Real Madrid face off against Osasuna. Osasuna basically a nobody team almost beat Real Madrid. The first half was 2-2 with Osauana leading up the last 2 mins. The second half was close shoots and frustrating passes. Real Madrid finally pulled out a win in the last 3 minutes of regulation time. They continued to defend well for the 4 minutes of stoppage time. We were on the ends of seats watching time fly by and the game concluded 3-2 in favor of the home team, Real Madrid. Having played soccer for 16 ...
