Carmen is the protector of the men at sea, and this fiesta has been celebrated for 55 years to honer her as well as the people lost at sea.

This is a more than 1000 year old tradition to celebrate the fertility. One band in front another one at the end of the parade, where it apperently is a sin not to be wet. The people roars for more water, and they get it.

17.mai-feiringen i Arguineguin var preget av flott vær og stor oppslutning fra omlag 1000 nordmenn. 17.mai tog, korpsmusikk, sang og underholdning, ga de mange oppmøtte en ordentlig 17.mai følelse. At Norge tok hjem førsteprisen i MGP kvelden før la ingen demper på feiringen.
